This is a good piece by David Lang. I heard it on the radio(!), on one of my final days in Coos Bay. At first, I only heard the last part of it, since that’s when I turned on the radio, but the whole piece is quite pleasing, almost meditative. It doesn’t stay in your mind like a pop song, but it still rings quietly.
VERY modern sort of piece. I wish we messed with and shifted the idea of keeping time a little more like this. I also like how there is almost a drumbeat with the sound of the bow on the strings. In pieces like this, it’s a feature instead of a bug.
